Norris Green Youth Centre
Smith . Young have helped the BBC’s DIY SOS programme to take on its biggest challenge, by donating its architectural, planning and demolition skills to Children in Need 2011. With the help of the local community, trades and companies. DIY SOS managed to completely transform a dilapidated youth centre in Norris Green, Liverpool in just 10 days.
Smith . Young donated all architectural and planning services and even gave a hand on-site with demolition, plastering and painting.
The special episode of DIY SOS: The Big Build, was broadcast on Thursday 10th November 2011 at 9pm on BBC One.
Norris Green Youth and Community Centre, is situated in one of the most deprived areas in Liverpool, but is regarded as a beacon of hope in the local community. It is open seven days a week and 50 children and young people attend every night. It offers people the opportunity to broaden their horizons, develop skills and confidence, and instil positive attitudes that provide a path to further education, employment and active community citizenship.
